Shipley Common Lane, Ilkeston, Derbyshire

Here drawings and progress photos show a plot with a traditional dwelling built in the 1910s proposing to extend to the side and converting the roof space, thus optimising the available land and increasing capacity for the client.
Form to the front follows the precedent set by the adjoining terraced houses to maintain uniformity as seen from the public highway. While extrusions to the rear in the form of a single-pitched, single-storey extension and a dormer were opted for with significant expanses of glazing to expand and enhance the internal living spaces.
